Brachydactyly Absence of Distal Phalanges

Brachydactyly Absence of Distal Phalanges, also known as Cook's syndrome or anonychia/onychodystrophy with hypoplasia or absence of distal phalanges (ODP), is a rare combination of birth defects, or a syndrome. This syndrome is characterized by the absence of one of the three types of bone in the fingers, the distal phalanges, which are located in the tips of the fingers. This condition also includes a condition called brachydactyly, which means shortness of the fingers and toes due to short bones. This syndrome is treated on a case-by-case basis.
