Camptocormism

Common Name(s)

Camptocormism

Camptocormia is a condition characterized by the abnormal forward flexure, or bending, of the central part of the body. It is observable when an individual is standing but not while lying down. This condition can lead to back problems and difficulty performing physical tasks such as walking and sitting. Treatment is developed on a case-by-case basis, depending on the specific cause of camptocormia in the individual. Back speclialists may recommend surgery to fix complications from the bending problem or create exercise plans for individuals to strengthen their back and central body muscles.
