Camptodactyly Vertebral Fusion

Common Name(s)

Camptodactyly Vertebral Fusion

Camptodactyly - Vertebral Fusion is a rare disorder characterized by an abnormally tightened finger and fused bones in the back, or spinal column. Hence, individuals with this order may have problems performing tasks involving the hand and basic physicial tasks, such as walking and sitting, because of back problems. The fused bones in the spine can also affect the spinal cord, which may cause certain parts of the body to lose sensation or the ability to move. The condition is often diagnosed during childhood, as symptoms can become apparent at birth. Although back problems can often be managed with physical therapy, for severe cares, spine specialists may suggest individuals undergo surgery to seperate the connected spine sections.
