Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor of the breast

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor of the breast is a tumor that is composed cells from various parts of the breast. This type of tumor is typically benign (not cancerous), and rare. These tumors can occur in both men and women, but are more common in women. Symptoms depend on the size and stage of the tumor, and may include: chest pain, lumps on the breast, gastrointestinal obstruction (blockage in the small or large intestine), and shortness of breath (dyspnea). Mammograms or physical examinations can diagnose this condition. Treatment typically involves surgery, and recurrence of this type of tumor is rare.
