Sacral meningocele conotruncal heart defects

Sacral meningocele conotruncal heart defects, also known as Kousseff syndrome, is a rare combination of birth defects, or a syndrome. This syndrome is characterized by heart defects (defects in the vessels and valves that carry blood out of the heart), abnormal kidney development, and a defect in the spine often resulting in a bump around the tailbone (known as a sacral meningocele). This syndrome has only been seen in 5 people worldwide, and treatment varies based on a case-by-case basis.
